On May 2, 2012, The Board of Park Commissioners voted to approve to seek a 1 mill, eight-year property tax levy (.5 mil replacement with a .5 mil increase) for the Nov. 2012 election. The levy will allow Stark Parks to continue to maintain park facilities, trails, picnic areas, and nature centers, protect natural areas and wildlife habitats, preserve open space for future generations and promote healthy living, family activities, and improve the quality of life.

The total cost to a homeowner with a value of $100,000 is $2.55 per month or $30.63 per year TOTAL

The Canalway Classic is a certified, point to point, 5K race along the restored Ohio & Erie Canalway Towpath Trail. The race attracts over 400 runners. In 2010 we added an Elite division and brought back the Walking Division! This race has something for all ages and interests!
